Operation
This mold has a number of inserts. The first insert is a long bar which forms the hole length ways for 2 aluminum bars to go through. There should be some bars for testing with if needed. There are two screws that must be placed in the mold carefully. Place them so that the end buts up against the other inserted bar.
Screws:
• The screws sticking straight out the back in the mold are 8-32
• The side set screws are 10-24
This part includes a jig for post injection to drill two 15-degree holes on the sides for the set screws. They will not be threaded but the drill is sized so that the 10-24 screws cut into the plastic and self-form the threads.
Jig Notes
Use a 1/8-inch drill with this jig. The jig is designed to hold the part steady at a 15-degree angle so that you can drill a hole in the middle of the side. Use C clamps to hold the jig in place once you get the jig where you want it to drill in the right place in the middle. There is a notch in the jig where the hole should go length wise.
Quality Checks
- Check to make sure the screws for the side holes screw in correctly. The hole is sized to allow the screws to self-tap.
- Make sure the side holes are in the middle of the edge
- Check that the part is fully formed with no short shots
- Remove any flashing or gate remains
